Bellydance BBs "Iraqi Fusion" | Wed 6.30pm, ZOOM

$105.00
Sorry, bookings aren't yet open for Term 3.

with Andrea, Wednesdays 6.30pm (55 mins x 10 weeks) from 24 July

ZOOM (Online)

Iraqi Fusion

Iraqi dance has burst into popularity lately, and it’s very different from typical ‘bellydance’. If you’ve seen any clips online, you might be fearing that it’s all about crazy head and hair swooshing. But there’s so much more - and besides, we know most of our students wouldn’t want to do that.
So let’s explore other aspects of Iraqi dance. Unpack the rhythms and music, delve into the aesthetic, and learn Iraqi style hip moves and footwork, plus a few very simple and safe hair moves.
Compare and contrast with Egyptian style; then put it all together into a fusion choreo!

LEVEL: For dancers who have completed at least 4 terms (1 year) of Fundamentals. There’s no upper limit: students who’ve been dancing for years might appreciate this chance to become familiar with a different style.

(If you’re new to bellydance, this class is not suitable. Please choose a Fundamentals course instead.)

Catch-up options: Recordings will be available.

Pricing: 10 classes $105 via Zoom, in a hybrid format from the studio.

Sorry, this class is full! Please join the waiting list.

Beyond Beginners (BBs) classes are suitable for dancers with at least a year’s class experience, who are confident with all the Fundamentals moves and are gaining familiarity with more complex moves, concepts and cultural styles in Oriental Dance. Performance opportunities are available for experienced students. If you’ve had a bit of a break from dancing, consider joining the Fundamentals class (as well or instead).
